If you are a regular reader of Guilty Eats, then you know I haven’t been particularly pleased with Burger King this year. In particular it’s the the American division of the Home of the Whopper that has me rising my fists to the air and asking why.

See, if you live in other parts of the world, in particular Canada, you’ve been able to enjoy a plethora of new and innovative takes on classic Burger King sandwiches. Meanwhile here in the good old USA we’ve been stuck with more of the same.

Here we have the Whopper. In Canada you can get a Peppercorn King. Here we still have the Whopper. In Canada you can get a Franken Whopper. Here we still just have the Whopper. North of the border you can get a Southwestern King.

See where I’m going with this?

Is Burger King going to be open for Christmas Day this year?

So it seems kind of ironic that if you want to have a Whopper on Christmas Day this year, you’re going to need a valid passport and willing to be ready to take a road trip northward. Because that’s the only way you’re going to be able to get one.

The majority of Burger King locations (at least in the US) are going to be closed this year for Christmas Day. A handful might be open for a few hours but that will vary greatly by location and if they can find staff to work. If your local Burger King is going to be open you may want to ask them.

So if you want to go on a trip this Christmas and get a version of a Whopper you can’t get here, Christmas Day might give you the perfect excuse to do just that. Unless you’re opening presents and singing carols and all that traditional holiday stuff. Then you’re already busy and the Franken Whopper will have to wait.
