MasterChef Junior Season 8 arrives March 17
By D. Goodman
Everyone can agree that MasterChef Season 11 left a lot to be desired and a bad taste in many a foodie’s mouth. From an aggravating finale to issues with what exactly MasterChef considered a “home” chef to a string of boring guest judges, Season 11 was a mess.
However, the ratings were solid and that’s all Fox and the advertisers really care about so odds are the series will return for a Season 12 sometime this summer. In the meantime, for the food TV fans who like their MasterChef with less drama and a guarantee that all the contestants are truly home cooks, we have good news for you.
MasterChef Junior is set to return to Fox on March 17. For those who have lived under a potato for the last few years, the spinoff series is a kids version featuring home cooks who are between the ages of 8 and 13.
Gordon Ramsay and Aarón Sánchez both are returning as judges and they will be joined for Season 8 by new arrival Daphne Oz. In addition Ramsay’s daughter Tilly will be back for another visit in a donut challenge.
MasterChef Junior Season 8 will include a wrestling episode featuring the WWE.
Season 8 looks to be a lot of fun. It will include a trip to a renaissance fair, an episode that will feature the wrestlers of the WWE and what could be the high mark of the season, a visit to a monster truck rally.
Because I don’t know about any of you, but I really, really want to see Gordon Ramsay behind the wheel of a monster truck. Or getting jumped over by a monster truck. Or in any way, shape or form involved with a monster truck.
The winner of Season 8 walks away with a cool $100,000 and the all important MasterChef Junior Trophy as well as all the bragging rights that includes.
MasterChef Junior is always a fun diversion that shows a kinder, gentler side of Ramsay and cooking competitions in general. Hopefully they won’t discover a way to mess it up and ruin it for people like they have MasterChef.
MasterChef Junior Season 8 premieres on March 17 at 8 PM on Fox.
