You may remember last month when we spilled the metaphorical beans that Burger King had put a new spin on their iconic Whopper sandwich. They had combined the Whopper and the classic patty melt and christened it the Whopper Melt Sandwich.

Word was they were testing the new Whopper Melt in the Toledo, Ohio area in three different varieties for a very limited window. At the time we said that since it sounded like such a great idea, we hoped that Burger King would roll them out nationwide sooner rather than later.

Well, luckily for foodies everywhere, it turned out to be sooner rather than later.

According to our arch rivals over at Chewboom, Burger King is taking the Whopper Melt nationwide starting this week. It appears that the test was a huge success since it seems the sandwich is a permanent addition to the menu.

Burger King is offering Royal Perks members a Whopper Melt special offer.

For those that may not remember, Burger King offers the Whopper Melt in three different varieties. There is the regular Whopper Melt which includes two Whopper Jr. patties, American cheese, caramelized onions and Stacker Sauce all between two slices of toasted bread.

Then there is the Spicy Whopper Melt which includes all of the above as well as jalapenos and a creamy spicy sauce. Finally there is the Bacon Whopper Melt which has everything a Whopper Melt has but adds bacon to the party. And what’s a party without bacon?

To celebrate the Whopper Melt going nationwide, Burger King Royal Perks members are being offered a special deal. You can get a limited-time curated Whopper Melt Meal combo starting for just $6. Just order through the BK App or online.

It’s great to see a test menu item finally get a nationwide release, especially one that looks as tasty as the Whopper Melt. Now if we could just get the Franken Whopper here everyone would be happy.
