It’s time for the first ever bake sale on MasterChef Junior. And with the teams ending up being boys against the girls, it was once again drama on one team, as the strong personalities made themselves known right out of the gate.

Right from the beginning of the MasterChef Junior bake sale challenge, it looked like the red team (which was the all girls team) looked to be on the same page with each other. And the blue team (which was the boys team) seemed to be struggling to work as a team. At the very start, the blue team tried to think outside of the box, but that also meant that they did not take into account who they were baking for.

During the baking portion of the competition, both teams struggled with things being undercooked, things not making it into the oven in a timely manner, and way too much frosting.

Once we hit the tasting portion of the night, it was clear that while both teams were able to get their four baked goods on the table and served to their guests, there were flaws across the board. We are talking about overbaked cookies on both teams, a blondie with unnecessary frosting that over-sweetened the treat, and even a chocolate and cereal bar that didn’t look good, but did in fact taste good.

After all of the deliberations were made, it was ultimately the red team that came out victorious, while the blue team ended up losing in the end. And considering only the team captain, Cruz, was able to deliver on a delicious cupcake, he was perhaps the only one who seemed to be safe. (He was called a strong leader, even with their loss.)

At the end of the night, it was sadly Abir who went home after failing to deliver on his cookie. And while we are sad to see him go (he was definitely one of our favorites), it only made sense for him to go home after he overbaked his cookie and was unable to bake all 20 of the cookies he was supposed to make.
