It would appear that Burger King is never going to be 100 percent happy with the classic Whopper. It’s not enough that it is considered my many to be an American fast food icon but the chain now also wants there to be a Whopper for almost any taste.
Recently we’ve had the successful introduction of Whopper Melts and endless versions of the Whopper that have been released in other parts of the world. And no, I’m still not over the fact that I couldn’t get to try the Franken Whopper that arrived in Canada last year.
Last month we talked about how Burger King was testing giving the Whopper a southwestern flair by adding avocado to the sandwich. We thought it might be a while before the rest of us got to try it. Well, it must have been a monster hit because Chewboom is reporting that they are already going nationwide.
The Burger King Southwest Bacon Whopper comes in four different varieties
They are calling them Southwest Bacon Whoppers and they are now available for you to try. And it seems they don’t want to give you any excuse not to try one because they are available in four, count ’em, four different versions.
The baseline Southwest Bacon Whopper includes a quarter-pound beef patty that has been flame-grilled and then topped with avocado spread, seasoned tortilla chips, cheese, bacon, lettuce, onions, tomatoes and a spicy sauce all on a toasted sesame seed bun.
The Double Southwest Bacon Whopper includes all of the above but adds a second flame-gilled patty. The Southwest Bacon Whopper Jr. also includes the same thing as the baseline version but on a smaller scale. And finally we have the Impossible Southwest Bacon Whopper which switches out the beef patty for a plant-based Impossible patty.
Ironically, the Impossible version still includes the bacon. Make of that what you will.
Additionally, if you are a Royal Perks member, for $1 you can add avocado spread to pretty much any sandwich on the Burger King menu. It will be an option through the Burger King app or online while the Southwest Bacon Whoppers are available.
Of course, the Southwest Bacon Whopper will only be around for a limited time, so if you want to try one you better do it sooner rather then later.
