We live in a time of recalls it seems. It’s a good week if there isn’t a recall at all, but this week is not that week. This time it’s the 90s-kids staple Capri Sun.  Kraft Heinz has recalled over 5,000 cases of the fruity drink because it could possibly contain cleaning solution.

The company announced on Friday that it was recalling 5,760 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry Flavored Juice Drink Blend beverages because diluted cleaning solution was mistakenly introduced to the production line at one of the factories. As you might imagine, they want to keep the place clean, but it sounds like some of that solution got mixed in with the drink.

The problem was only discovered after people complained that there was an issue with the taste.

Kraft Heinz is now working with retailers to remove any of the contaminated drinks from the shelves. If you have some of the Wild Cherry flavored drink, there are a few things you can check to see if you have a contaminated batch.

Over 5,000 cases of Capri Sun Wild Cherry recalled

The product size is 6.6 ounces and each drink comes in individual foil pouches that are packed in a cardboard carton. The manufacturer code on each pouch is “25JUN2023WXX LYY ####” and the manufacturer code on the carton is “25JUN2023WXX #### CT1404.”

The carton UPC number is 0 8768400100 4 and the case UPC is “87684 00409 00.”

If you do have the affected product, you should not drink it. You can return it to the place you bought it for a full refund. Additionally, if you’d like to contact Kraft Heinz to learn more about the recall or to be reimbursed, you can call them at 1-800-280-8252. They are there Monday-Friday, 9 a.m to 6 p.m. EST.

While it would be great for this to be the last recall of the year or let’s be honest, the month, we are probably not that lucky. It would be interesting to know if there are so many recalls in the past couple of years because there is more supervision or if there are so many because things keep getting messed up.

Whatever the reason, make sure to check any Capri Sun you have and if it is part of the recall, either throw it away or get a refund.
