Great Chocolate Showdown was back for episode 5 of season 3 and this week, it was all about gravity-defying cakes and tea party desserts. And with only six bakers remaining, they all had to step up their game.

The episode started off with cake designer Cynthia Stroud showing the bakers how to make an anti-gravity cake. It’s a cake that has an element on it that looks like it’s defying gravity. I know there are probably a few takes of this part of the show but the fact that she created the cake and it looked so clean and perfect on the first try…truly amazing!

Then it was the bakers’ turn to make their own version. But they wouldn’t be working alone; they would be in teams of two. Evan and Brie, Lexi and Maile, and Gavin and Amber were teamed up. Evan and Brie made a fun fairytale cake, Lexi and Maile made an incredibly cute breakfast cake, and Gavin and Amber made a unique honey bee cake.

Evan and Brie came out on top this round but since there was no immunity this week, they still had to bake in the elimination round.

Final six bakers competed on this episode of Great Chocolate Showdown

And speaking of the elimination round, this time the bakers had to create two desserts that would be perfect for a tea party. The only catch was that the desserts had to include a specific type of tea. They chose the tea they would use with the help of a croquet set.

Gavin got mint tea, Maile got Earl Grey, Lexi picked Masala chai, Brie picked sencha green tea, Evan got rooibos tea, and Amber received milk oolong tea.

While the bakers all seemed to think tea and chocolate went together, I was a bit skeptical. But the desserts that were made looked amazing. Lexi made donuts so she already had me drooling.

But who won this round? Once again, Bri and Evan were on top but this time, Evan won with his chocolate rooibos millionaire shortbread bars and his rooibos creme brulee tartlets.

And who went home? Unfortunately, that was Amber this week. When you serve raw pears on your brownies, the judges aren’t going to look too favorably on you.

Next week, the remaining five bakers have to create a work of art with chocolate truffles (yes, please) and make a cake that showcases a specific flower.
