Great Chocolate Showdown was back on The CW with episode six of season 3 and this might have been the most stressful episode yet. The elimination challenge had me sweating bullets and I wasn’t even baking. But before we get ahead of ourselves, let’s start at the beginning.

This episode started with judge Cynthia Stroud showing the bakers how to make different flavors of truffles. She did this very messy job and didn’t get an ounce of chocolate on her or her clothes! Extraordinary as always.

But then it was time for the technique test and the bakers had to do much more than just make truffles. They had to create a piece of art with the truffles they made.

Of the five remaining bakers, Evan made a tree, Gavan made a bear, Lexi made a snow-capped mountain, Bri made a heart, and Maile made a house. Some performed better than others but Evan and his tree came out on top.

Great Chocolate Showdown episode 6 was stressful AF

On to the chaotic elimination round! For this challenge, the bakers had to randomly pick a flower and then make a cake inspired by that flower. It sounds relatively easy. It was not!

As for who got what flower, Gavan picked elderflower, Evan chose orange blossom, Bri got lavender, Lexi picked roses, and Maile got hibiscus.

Everything that could go wrong did go wrong. At least for Maile and Bri. For Maile, her filling started seeping out from between the cake layers and then her cake started falling apart. Her finished product also didn’t look the most refined.

Bri had to redo one of her cakes because she set it on a live burner, her filling started oozing out once she had the cake frosted, and her white chocolate collar broke. I was having a panic attack just watching. That being said, her final cake looked pretty good considering all the trouble she went through.

But who came out on top? Gavan! His cake looked gorgeous and flowery and delicious! Evan and Bri also made it to the next round.

That meant Lexi and Maile were in the bottom two and unfortunately, Lexi’s rose cake didn’t make the cut so she was the one to go home this week.

Next week, the final four (how are we almost at the end already??) will have to make two kinds of macarons and then have to make a dessert inspired by high fashion. I’m so excited to see what they make for the fashion challenge.
