Great Chocolate Showdown season 3 episode 7: Chocolate couture
Great Chocolate Showdown was back for the penultimate episode of season 3. We are down to the final four and the competition is getting even more difficult. And with only one episode left, the stakes have never been higher.
This week’s Technique Test was all about macarons. Chef judge Anna Olson showed the bakers how to make macarons and then the bakers were challenged to make two kinds of macarons along with a macaronade tower. To say this was a difficult challenge would be an understatement. This show does not mess around when it comes to macarons.
Each baker was also given a theme to base their creation on. Bri got Fly Me to the Moon, Evan received Life’s a Beach, Maile got Call of the Wild, and Gavan received For the Birds.
Gavan was definitely the one who had the most difficult challenge this round. He had to redo two of his macarons because the first ones didn’t turn out right.
Great Chocolate Showdown was all about macarons and fashion this week
But that being said, all the bakers’ final macarons and macaronade towers looked amazing and Evan’s beach-themed creation came out on top.
On to the Elimination Round! This week, the bakers had to make a dessert based on a piece of fashion. Gavan chose a gorgeous rainbow dress, Maile picked a gauzy yellow dress, Evan switched with Bri and ended up with a pink tassel dress, and Bri got a bright purple pantsuit.
This was not an easy task for any of the bakers. There were hiccups for all of them but the final results looked extraordinary! Nothing is better than fashion and desserts.
But what did they make? Bri created a blueberry white chocolate mousse cake, Maile made a white chocolate sunflower butter cheesecake, Gavan created a white chocolate opera cake, and Evan made a brownie raspberry mousse tower. And it was Bri who came out on top this week!! Her dessert looked delicious and a perfect match for her outfit.
Unfortunately, like every week, someone had to go home and this week, it was Gavan. Considering he was in my top 3 to make it to the finale, I am definitely upset.
But there are still three amazing bakers left and next week is the finale. The finale will consist of four challenges. The final three bakers will have to make a dessert inspired by a loved one, a dessert that’s a Judge’s Choice, an interactive dessert, and a showstopping showpiece. And like the seasons before, the bakers will be teamed up with an eliminated baker to help them work.
