Great Chocolate Showdown season 3 came to an end and a winner was named but a whole lot happened before that moment. None of the bakers were immune to mistakes or missteps in this final round.

This episode began with the judges announcing what the bakers would have to do this round. They had to make four different chocolate creations. First, they had to make a dessert that was an ode to a loved one. Then, they had to create a dessert that was a choice of the judges. Next, they had to make an interactive dessert. And finally, they had to make a showstopping piece. It was a lot!

Evan ended up making a walnut bourbon wedding cake that was an ode to his husband, a chocolate Swedish princess cake, a salted caramel and chocolate tart, and a chocolate mountain with chocolate hazelnut mille-feuille.

Bri created a dark chocolate cherry tart as an ode to her mom, an assortment of chocolate strawberry petit fours, a white chocolate butter roll with spiced peach caramel sauce which was a  family recipe, and finally, she made a french showpiece with apple ginger ale profiteroles.

Maile made Hawaiian malasadas with guava white chocolate pastry cream as an ode to her dad, a chocolate raspberry charlotte royale, a flourless chocolate almond torte with a chocolate heart cover over it, and a monstera anti-gravity cake.

But the bakers weren’t doing this alone! They had the help of three eliminated bakers. Bri received the help of Gavan, Maile got Lexi, and Evan got Amber.

Despite this extra help, the bakers definitely struggled. Maile had to remake her pastry cream, Evan had his whole chocolate showpiece come crashing down and had to add another layer to his princess cake, and Bri almost didn’t get part of her chocolate showpiece out of the pan. Watching this episode was definitely anxiety-inducing.

But who became the winner?? It was Maile! She really impressed the judges with her flavors in this final round and she showed her personality in all her bakes.
