October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Hard Rock Cafe is paying respect to the month by partnering with Chef Dominique Crenn to celebrate PINKTOBER.

Chef Dominique Crenn is the owner of Atelier Crenn, a three-Michelin-starred restaurant located in San Francisco. While you may not have dined at her French restaurant, you’ve likely seen her competing on several different iterations of Food Network’s Iron Chef. Or maybe you’ve read her book Rebel Chef: In Search of What Matters. But you may not know that Crenn is also a breast cancer survivor, diagnosed in early 2019.

According to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, 1 in 8 women in the United States will develop breast cancer at some point in their lives. This is the 23rd year that the Hard Rock Cafe is celebrating PINKTOBER. This is their annual fundraising effort to support breast cancer research and awareness.

There are 170 Hard Rock Cafes worldwide but PINKTOBER is celebrated brand-wide in 265 locations that include their resorts and casinos spanning 70 different countries. Since its inception, the Hard Rock Cafe’s PINKTOBER fundraising efforts have raised more than $8 million!

The Hard Rock Cafe and Chef Dominique Crenn have partnered for PINKTOBER!

In this special PINKTOBER collaboration with the Hard Rock Cafe, Crenn has created Baja Style Fish Tacos. According to a recent press email, these tacos consist of: “three achiote-marinated shrimp tacos, topped with charred salsa roja, pickled red onions, spicy pepitas, avocado and shredded cabbage on warm corn tortillas.” What a mouth-watering combination of flavors! Enjoy a plate of these tacos and help support Breast Cancer Awareness month.

The Baja Style Fish Tacos are a limited time menu offering and will be on the menu at Hard Rock Cafe restaurants throughout the world, only for the month of October. A portion of the proceeds from this dish will be donated to the breast cancer charity of each restaurant’s choice.

If you are interested in supporting PINKTOBER in other ways, Hard Rock International is selling limited-edition merchandise. Items in the line include a PINKTOBER-themed Hard Rock t-shirt, baseball cap, water bottle and a newly designed PINKTOBER Butterfly guitar pin. A percentage of all proceeds from this merchandise will be given to charities that help raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

Hard Rock’s press email also noted: “n partnership with Crenn, Hard Rock will produce special pink chef coats, adorned with a breast cancer awareness ribbon and the headline Stronger Together, for all Cafe head chefs to wear during PINKTOBER.” When visiting your local Hard Rock Cafe this month, you may see your chef wearing one of these while crafting your Baja Style Fish Tacos!
