A few weeks ago we at Guilty Eats reported on the persistent rumors that McDonald’s was getting ready to invoke some serious Halloween nostalgia. Word had been circulating for weeks that the fast food chain was preparing to bring back their famous Halloween Happy Meal plastic buckets.
Making their debut in 1986, the buckets replaced the standard cardboard container that a Happy Meal normally came in. Since they were made of hard plastic, they lasted a lot longer and could be used for anything, such as trick or treating for example.
Unfortunately for everyone they were just rumors. No one could get McDonald’s to confirm that the buckets were indeed going to be returning. And many a foodie was getting anxious waiting for an answer. Well, wait no longer.
McDonald’s Halloween Happy Meals officially go on sale October 18.
McDonald’s broke the news everyone has been waiting for on their Twitter feed, confirming that the Halloween Happy Meals are in fact making a comeback.
The new pails will come in three different varieties and in three different colors, McBoo, McPunk’n and McGoblin. They are very similar to buckets from previous Halloweens which should come as no surprise. They will go on sale at all participating McDonald’s on October 18 and will be available until October 31.
Get your spook-tacular McDonald’s Halloween pails while you can. Because you can be sure it won’t be just the little ones who will be wanting one of these. Lots of adults will suddenly be getting Happy Meals as well.
