It has long been known in foodie circles that Taco Bell fans are some of the most loyal and devoted of any fast food chain out there. They live and breathe for The Bell and aren’t afraid to show it. Remember the wails of grief on social media when the Mexican Pizza left the menu?
So it shouldn’t come as a shock that they company would allow their most loyal fans to decide what the next retired item to return to the menu would be. Which is exactly what they did last month through the Taco Bell Rewards app.
Fans where given a choice between two of the chain’s most requested items: the Enchirito and the Double Decker Taco. They voted via the Taco Bell app and the winner would make a comeback by the end of this year.
Taco Bell fans voted overwhelmingly for the eventual winner of the poll.
And the winner was (drum roll please…) the Enchirito!
Taco Bell revealed the winner via their social media channels on Friday, letting everyone know that the Enchirito will be back at Taco Bell by the end of this year for a limited run.
Since the Enchirito hasn’t been on the menu at The Bell since 2013, you may be wondering exactly what it is and why everyone is making such a fuss about its return.
The Enchirito starts with a flour tortilla that has been loaded with seasoned beef, beans and onions and then rolled up like a burrito. It’s then covered with a classic red sauce and topped with shredded cheddar cheese which has been melted.
While the exact date of the Enchiritos return isn’t known right now, Taco Bell promises the classic fan favorote will be back on the menu for a limited time by the end of 2022.
