4 best veggie burgers you can find at restaurants—4 you can find at the supermarket

BERLIN, GERMANY - MAY 18: A Beyond Burger, a vegan veggie burger, is seen at the Vedang fast food restaurant in the Mall of Berlin on May 18, 2019 in Berlin, Germany. With fast food chains such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Chick-Fil-A, Taco Bell and Dunkin’ Donuts now offering ‘fake meat’ versions of their main meal options, the vegan burger industry is booming, as consumers look beyond real meat products out of health and environmental concerns. Beyond Burgers, made from pea protein, and Impossible Burgers, made from wheat protein, coconut oil, potato protein, and heme, the protein that makes the burgers convincingly taste like meat, are now being distributed globally as interest in such products grows. I’m sure we’ve all had that feeling: Hoping with all your might that you’ve found a veggie burger that tastes so much like the all beef burgers you’ve sworn to give up, but only to find disappointment once you take that first bite. It happens and often enough, but veggie burgers have come a long way for sure, and although not all are to be trusted, we’ve found 4 of the best veggie burgers you can find at restaurants, and 4 you can find at the supermarket.

There are many reasons why you’d go for a veggie option when looking at burgers. Health can be a reason to go veggie, as many options of veggie burgers out there are in fact healthier than your run of the mill red meat variety….

At the same time, as a foodie, you’ll want to experience all aspects of eating out and eating in, so why not try all the veggie burgers out there. I know I like to as a food writer.

Finally you’re likely to go veggie if you’re a vegetarian—I mean, HELLO! Right? Of course…and if so, a list like this can definitely help you out whatever your case might be. You’re welcome by the way. Glad to be here for you, dear readers.

I know I get a hankering for veggie proteins often enough and try to partake in anything vegetarian any chance I get. I did partake when sampling the goods on this list, trust me, and a few times I was disappointed but I did in the end come up with these eight options…

So, what are the four restaurant veggie burgers and four grocery store veggie burgers that are worth your time, money and space in your belly? Keep reading to find out…

4 best veggie burgers you can find at a restaurant

The Impossible Cheeseburger from Burger King

Okay, okay, so there won’t be any other major fast food chain veggie burger on this list. Sorry to ruin the surprise, but the Burger King veggie option is the only burger worth your time in essence. Really it’s done well, and the patty so resembles it’s patty for a whopper, I have no idea how they do it, but it works.

The Shroom Burger from Shake Shack

This one darn near reminds me of something you’re likely to find in a fine dining establishment. If prepared right this one will transport you to that heavenly plain in your mind known as Yummy Heaven—you know what that is. You go there every time you take a bit of your favorite pasta dish, or even your absolutely treasured favorite ice cream. Besides, who doesn’t like mushrooms—fried mushrooms by the way—and cheese?!

Beyond Famous Star from Carl’s Jr.

This one, like the Burger King Veggie Burger, is very similar to the original beef burger also offered by the chain, so you’re not really lacking anything in the flavor department, which is of course the point here, folks, so you can trust this one.

Spicy Black Bean Burger at Copper Branch

Soy is usually what goes into a veggie burger, but at copper Branch, they make a black bean burger you’ll want to try. The taste factor is definitely at the top mark level, and as far as presentation and recipe are concerned, you’re there for sure.

It’s served with south west sauce, lettuce and tomato and the delicious patty is made with: (black beans, pea protein, brown rice, sweet potato, red and green pepper, and even corn).

4 best veggie burgers you can find at your local supermarket

Trader Joe’s Vegetable Masala

Great taste; nice and light, and in the end, the price is also quite decent. Really all I’m looking for though is if they taste similar to a beef burger, and we win here, but there are better options as you will soon read. Good as a fourth option, though.

Organic Sunshine Quarter Pound (Original)

And heck, not only are you getting vegetarian, but you’re also getting organic, which quite obviously isn’t always the same thing. These ones are definitely great if you can find them and are delicious when made crispy. If frying in a pan, try grape seed oil for epic health benefits and a meal that’s low in fat as well.

Amy’s California Veggie Burger (Low Sodium)

And because sometimes you’ve gotta watch the salt content in the foods you eat as well, this one sure goes a long way and that’s saying something, because here you’ve done away with eating meat and you want the stuff you eat to taste good, so the challenge is already huge there, but now you’re also cutting back on sodium and maybe even fat content, like in the above entry…but you need not worry about that here, dear readers. These ones deliver.

Yves Veggie Cuisine Burger in Canada

But perhaps not as much as these ones here. They deliver big time and certainly are the best! They’re available in Canada and I’m not too sure about their availability in the US, but perhaps they can be ordered or even picked up in bulk on a trip up to Canada! I’m actually not kidding because these ones here are oh-so-worth-it, friends.

I actually rank them at the top of the list of both the restaurant options above and obviously on the grocery store options we just went through.

Taste factor is there, they’re light but satisfying all at the same time, and they’re vegetarian, which is the point after all.
