Halloween Baking Championship season 8 episode 7: Boozy nightmares
Halloween Baking Championship was back for episode 7 of season 8 and as the episode before the finale, the challenges and the judges were tougher than ever. This week, it was all about alcoholic eclairs and nightmare cakes.
It all started with the Thriller Challenge where the bakers had to make eclairs based on a Halloween-inspired drink. The drinks the bakers had to choose from included a zombie, skeleton key, widow’s kiss, last word, and a dark and stormy.
Most of the bakers made amazing eclairs that incorporated the flavors of the drink of their choice, but one person impressed the judges more than others and that was Lauren. According to the judges, her zombie-flavored eclairs took the flavors of the drink and made them even better.
On to the Killer Challenge! This time, the bakers had to make three entremets that represented their worst fears. The fears included things underneath the water, being lost in space, sloths, and birds.
This week’s Halloween Baking Championship was all about nightmares
But there was a twist. halfway through the challenge, the bakers had to add a type of candy to their entremets. The candies included licorice, chocolate almond candy bars, peanut butter chews, chocolate-covered nougat, and caramels
To say these looked good would be an understatement. They were gorgeous, shiny, and spooky. But one group of entremets was better than the others and that was Jill’s sloth entremets. She really made sloths look terrifying.
And unfortunately, someone had to go home and this week it was Kristi. In my opinion, this was the wrong choice. Kristi has made very few mistakes throughout the whole series. This was her first and she really didn’t have much of a choice. What else was she supposed to do with chewy licorice candy?
Blayre has had issues with her bakes before and she had flat eclairs in the challenge just before this. How did they not send her home?
Next week is the finale and the remaining bakers will have to make sweet and savory grazing boards and then create three-tier black wedding cakes.
