First seven seasons of Great British Baking Show now on Roku
If you’re sad about the end of the current season of the Great British Baking Show or just looking for the old seasons of the show (or you miss Mell and Sue), you’re in luck. The first seven seasons are now available to stream on The Roku Channel.
And these are the actual first seven seasons so if you’re in the US, you may not have seen some of these earlier episodes. From looking at what’s available, I don’t remember ever seeing the first season that’s streaming. It reads more like a documentary than it does a baking competition show. And the drawings of the desserts are much less detailed. Still pretty but not as colorful.
These early seasons are also the ones where Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins were the hosts and Paul Hollywood and Mary Berry were the judges. So if you’re looking for the nostalgia of those times when Mexican Week was never a thing (and Paul Hollywood’s hair was way less white), this is your moment.
I know there are also some people who aren’t a fan of one or two of the newer hosts. This gives you a chance to go back to your old faves.

There are two ways you can watch the seven seasons. You can either go to The Roku Channel website, type in the name of the show, and watch for free or you can go to the Roku App on your phone or a compatible device (like a Roku Stick), type the name of the show into the search field, and either create an account if you don’t have one already or start watching.
While the show has never really lost its comfort and supportive vibe, the early seasons show that much more than what is airing on Netflix now. The challenges aren’t as nerve-wracking and they actually make sense. Having home bakers makes vertical tarts in a couple of hours was insane on last week’s Patisserie Week episode (sorry, Prue). These are simpler but still challenging.
This can also prepare you to watch the Great American Baking Show on Roku when it comes out in 2023.
