Okay…so steak is number one, right? Of course a few of their steak options will make the list below, but please that is no spoiler. They offer many steaks on quite the sizable menu…and the steaks are only the tip of the old iceberg…or maybe we should say tip of the cutting bard? Regardless, let’s take a look at the Outback Steakhouse menu items you just need to get next time you visit one of their many locations.

The Outback Steakhouse was founded back in 1988, and although it’s relatively young in terms of other restaurants of its sort—casual dining—it has established for itself quite the following. With 1,319 locations all over the world as of a 2021 census, and $3.888 billion in revenues registered as of 2017…we’d say they’re at the top of the steakhouse game, wouldn’t you?

Did you know? The Outback Steakhouse first expanded into Canada in 1996, but by 2009 they closed all but two specific locations in Niagara Falls…the only two Canadian Outback Steakhouse locations left, as per Wikipedia. Cue the melodramatic violin music now…and I mean it, too. I’m sad, and have been now for over a decade. But I still make it out there from Montreal every chance I get.

But enough looking back; how about we look onward and forward, and all the way to your next meal out…and why not have it at the Outback Steakhouse?

But what to choose at Outback? Try these top 10 menu items…you won’t be disappointed, dear readers.

10. The Bloomin’ Onion

So you shall soon see that the steak isn’t necessarily the only thing you can get at the Outback. Interestingly enough, it isn’t even the absolute best menu item—none of their steaks are, really. They’re great…and they are tasty, and two make the cut here, but there are many great items to choose from and you don’t need to be a beef lover to go.

The Bloomin’ Onion is a famous treat offered here. Some like to go to the Outback for this and this alone to accompany their drinks (more on the drinks later). A deep fried onion with dipping sauce to boot! Come on!

9. Crispy Calamari

Fish at steakhouse…ha ha! Okay, laugh if you will, but the Outback does a great job with fish… The calamari is crispy, even after it sits there for a spell…say you’re having a deep conversation…. And they have a lot of seafood items on the menu, each of them more delicious than the next.

8. Toowoomba Pasta

Okay, dear readers, we’ve been through this before, but I always scan the menu for a pasta item. Let’s just say I always like to have that option, because a good plate of pasta is indeed something I often enough get a craving for.

So first here, you’ve got a tomato cream sauce…check! Then you’ve got sautéed mushrooms and shrimp…check! And the linguine is tossed with parmesan. A delicious pasta option for sure.

7. Outback Special

Okay, steak fans, we’ve gotten to the meat of the matter—quite literally in fact. This one is spiced with their secret spice blends, it is a sirloin, so you know you’re covered there, and it comes with two choices of their “freshly made sides.”

Side choices include: Aussie Fries, Sweet Potato Fries, Steamed Broccoli, Baked Potato, Grilled Onions, Rice Pilaf and a few others, all delicious.

6. Peanut Butter Pie

Okay, so dessert is always a perfect way to finish up with a great meal. Talk about an understatement…. Let’s say you did away with the carbs, went with two portions of steamed broccoli for your sides and heck, you caught me…I’ve done this many times.

Well then you can finish off the meal with something that isn’t just delicious, but has a few of those carbs you sacrificed during the meal…and the kick here…for you weight lifters out there, there’s a bit of extra protein in the peanut butter. By the way, you’re welcome for tomorrow morning’s pump in advance.

5. Sydney’s Cosmo

Okay so we went through the best dessert item on their menu so why not that happy hour treat that many of us have looked to when the week has been long, the day stressful. Sometimes you just need that cocktail to take the edge off as the old saying goes. This one does the trick nicely…vodka, triple sec, and a “touch of mango,” as the menu boasts. They of course have other cocktails worth a try…

4. Salmon and Shrimp

I told you they do fish well and this combo…salmon and shrimp…hits all the protein levels you could ask for. Besides the Omega 3’s in there are good enough to help keep the old cholesterol down. And what more…after all, this is a foodie magazine…it’s a delicious plate and dear reader…in the end, isn’t that what we’re all after?

3. Baby Back Ribs

Again…yet another menu item that isn’t steak. Please forgive me further, and understand I love steak and I love their steak, but I’m trying to highlight delicious treats offered at this chain that aren’t the steak, and if these other items are indeed delicious, isn’t it a given that they make their steak well? Indeed. They also happen to make a delicious rack of ribs…the sauce, incredibly delicious; this one is mouth watering, friends.

2. Shrimp Caesar Salad

I did it again…and sometimes salad is certainly the way to go. And with all these seafood items, convincing that friend you want to take out that’s Pescatarian should be easy enough. Just send them a link of this article by your truly in their DMs, or even work email (why not?), and they should be convinced.

In the end you get your steak or ribs, and they have all the choices in the world…this Caesar Salad a winner in my eyes and it will be in theirs, and in the end, who else wins…? Well, that’ll be you good buddy. You’re welcome again.

1. Kookaburra Wings

Is it really a surprise that the Numero Uno spot is not reserved for steak? I hope not, as my ambition in this piece, was not at all to disappoint you, dear readers. But these wings are indeed banger, and worth your attention.

So once again, if you’ve avoided the Outback because you’re not a fan of steak…have no fear, as there are delicious items there to enjoy, and for you steak aficionados out there, we all know the steak is good, so enjoy and bring along your non-steak-loving friends.
