Holiday Baking Championship: Gingerbread Showdown was back on The Food Network with their latest episode and this time, it was all about the rivalry between Santa Clause and Jack Frost. The bakers had to make a gingerbread creation that showed off the fight between these two winter legends.
The baker teams included Rita and Linda, Cheryl and Missy, and Mary and Larry. Rita and Linda made a gingerbread creation that showed Jack Frost invading Santa’s resort vacation. Cheryl and Missy had Santa coming to take over Jack Frost’s empire but Frost is at his command center ready to defeat him.
Mary and Larry had Santa and Jack Frost competing in their own gingerbread showdown and they were being judged by snowman judges that look very familiar. They were decorated to look like real-life judges Carla Hall, Stephanie Boswell, and Kalen Allen.
Unlike last week, there wasn’t too much drama or at least the drama was primarily about the gingerbread, not about the people. The bakers had issues with warped gingerbread panels, gears that wouldn’t work properly, and sugar glue that wasn’t sticking.

There was also a twist where the bakers had to make a sweet and salty dessert that went with the theme of their gingerbread showstoppers.
But who were the winners? Larry won for the best sweet and salty dessert with his flourless chocolate cake wreath. Considering Carla finished hers, you know it tasted good! He won a ton of kitchenware worth about $1000.
As for the overall winner, that was Mary and Larry! Their gingerbread house competition was very meta and the gingerbread houses that Santa and Jack Frost made looked amazing! Especially Jack Frost’s fortress.
Next week, three teams of bakers will have to make gingerbread versions of holiday parades and include a baked item that is made with hot cocoa.
