Charcuterie Boards add something special to Galentine’s gatherings

MARVAO, PORTUGAL - DECEMBER 10: A diner helps himself to a dry-cured black pork sirloin and belly charcuterie board at Fago restaurant on December 10, 2021 in Marvao, Portugal. There has never been an actual wall dividing the border between Spain and Portugal. Just a very thin line that, over the years, has moved back and forth facilitating smuggling of goods through the many worn paths crossing the line that separates both countries. Before Portugal and Spain joined the European Union border paths were used for trading illegal goods like tobacco and coffee. Spaniards would go to Portugal for cotton goods or coffee, and Portuguese would go to Spain to procure merchandise that sold at lesser cost across the border. Now these paths are trekking routes in the area of Marvão, where tourists can stay at short-term rentals, hike on foot, go horseback riding or biking in the area. Are you looking for a way to elevate your Galentine‘s day gathering? Are you a fan of charcuterie boards? Then why not include some charcuterie in your celebration of friendship.

Over the last few years, it seems like charcuterie and charcuterie boards have increased in popularity. Whether because of trends on TikTok or Instagram, there is something about these meat and cheese boards that really brings people together. There is a level of creativity that goes into putting together the perfect charcuterie board that is hard to resist.

In fact, this trend is so popular that it has even gone to the dogs! That’s right, there are even people out there making what we like to call Barkuterie Boards. Food Network star Rosanna Pansino even partnered with dog food and treat brand Blue Buffalo to create a dog treat board just in time for the big game. Our friends over at Dog O’Day even did an interview with Pansino about creating this Barkuterie board.

Make Galentine‘s day special with your own charcuterie boards

During the interview with Rosanna Pansino about her Blue Buffalo partnership, the question was asked what she thought inspired so many people to get on the charcuterie board trend. And while she didn’t really know what inspired people to hop on this trend, she did mention why she thought people enjoy it. According to Pansino,

"I like that people are doing it because charcuterie boards are awesome. I think that they are the perfect thing to put out for a get together or an event, or a party, no matter what the size. If you’re having a small get together or a big party, I think they’re perfect. It’s just enough food where everyone’s full, but not too much food. It’s just the perfect amount for nibbling and talking and catching up. It feels very European or some thing. It just feels perfect, but then for the bigger events too. I feel like my friends are very social and they just want to nibble and catch up. They’re really social and they want to socialize. And a lot of the time I think at events where they really want to catch up with people, and it’s not like a sit down dinner, they’re just perfect for that where you can nibble and socialize and catch up with people."

We happen to agree with her and her assessment of wide charcuterie boards are so awesome. And of course, being able to include our dogs in that fun is amazing. So if you can include your dogs in the fun of charcuterie, why not include charcuterie for a girls day, such as when you’re celebrating Galentine‘s day.

If you were looking for some inspiration for the perfect charcuterie spread, there are a lot of ways that you can make your own at home. There are also companies that help make it easy to create the perfect spread, whether that means putting together a variety of meats and cheeses for you to put on a board yourself, or by offering individual meats and cheeses that you can combine how you want.

Of course, there are also companies that let you order what you need to make a perfect charcuterie board, including Blue Apron, who recently did that for Valentine’s Day. One company that makes it very easy to put together the right blend of meats and cheeses is Columbus Craft Meats. They make it so easy to whip up a perfect charcuterie spread. And they are not the only ones.

Another option is Hickory Farms! They allow you to order gift baskets and gift spreads that are a perfect charcuterie. In fact, all you need to do is take what they sent you and put it out on a board. We would almost consider it cheating, except there is no cheating in food.

Honestly, even if you don’t have the time to seek out a company who already has the meats, cheeses, nuts, fruits, and whatever else you might need for that charcuterie spread, you can always whip one up with the health of places like Aldi. In fact, Aldi is one of our favorite places to snag fun fruit spreads, assortment of nuts, assorted crackers, and of course amazing meats and cheeses. They are our go to for trying something new.

Whether you’re looking for something different this Galentine‘s day, or you just love adding something a little special to a get together, charcuterie boards are the way to go. They make snacking and gathering together so much more fun.
