Taco Bell is testing a new Vegan Crunchwrap
By D. Goodman
There are few things better late on a Saturday night when you have been out with friends drinking way too many adult beverages than Taco Bell. It’s inexpensive, you can eat a ton of it in one sitting and it always makes you feel better.
Unfortunately, if you were a vegan, there were not as many options on the Taco Bell menu that you could enjoy. Of course, just by being a vegan at all there is very little you can enjoy eating period but that’s a topic for another day.
Anyway, over the last few years being vegan has become all the rage. Foodies saw impossible this and vegan that all over the place, particularly in fast food restaurants. However, after a few chains experienced an #epicfail with some vegan items, the glow faded a bit.
But that has never stopped The Bell before. Which is why the brand new Vegan Crunchwrap may be coming to a city near you someday.
The Taco Bell Vegan Crunchwrap is being tested in three cities for a limited time.
Taco Bell has announced that they are testing a brand new Vegan Crunchwrap in three markets this month. This vegetarian twist on the popular Crunchwrap has apparently been in development for quite some time and is finally being rolled out.
So what do you get in a Vegan Crunchwrap? Pretty much the same things as a regular Crunchwrap except they are all vegan-friendly. It includes vegan seasoned “beef” which is actually a plant-based protein as well as a vegan blanco sauce and a vegan nacho sauce.
The new item is currently being tested in the New York, Los Angeles and Orlando area and will be priced similar to the regular Crunchwrap Supreme.
In an ironic twist, Taco Bell doesn’t want everyone else to be left out of the fun so Taco Bell Rewards members can get a free Breakfast Crunchwrap throughout the month of June. However, it is decidely not vegan as it includes eggs, hashbrowns, sausage and bacon.
Mmmm. Bacon. Why anyone would give up bacon is beyond me.
