The Great Food Truck Race gives us a Jet Tila challenge
There are five teams left on The Great Food Truck Race and it is time for the trucks to show off their food origin story in honor of Jet Tila. And yes, that means that Chef Jet is in the house (technically).
In their first challenge of this leg, the teams are making a dish inspired by their own origin stories. And this challenge is for $300 plus an advantage for the next day.
The trucks must cook up a dish that will not only be judged by Tyler and Jet, but they also have to sell as many of this new dish as possible. All the trucks will once again be cooking in the same location, which adds to their challenge, as they will have to compete for customers against the other trucks.
For some of the trucks, it is clear that they are thinking about Chef Jet Tila when it comes to creating these special dishes. In fact, Khana even talks about how they know that Chef Jet will be able to handle the heat of their dish.

Honestly, there were some emotional moments with this challenge from Jet Tila. These are dishes that are all about memories, so of course people are going to get choked up talking about their inspirations.
For D’Pura Cepa, there were some challenges trying to put together their dish, but they were able to adjust their recipe and get it together before Jet and Tyler showed up for their tasting.
According to Chef Jet the two best dishes came from Easy Vegan and Khana. So which team won the $300 from the tasting? The winner was Easy Vegan. If they sell the most of their origin special dish, they will also get an amazing advantage for the next day.
With three hours left in the selling day, Tyler lets the trucks know that they can leave the park they are set up at and they have to tell him in that moment. And it looks like only two trucks decided to stay, D’Pura Cepa and Lisa’s Creperie.
To kick off the second day, Tyler lets the teams know who sold the most of their origin dish special, which means an advantage. So who won the sales challenge? The winner was D’Pura Cepa! And that means they get an advantage. The advantage is that they get to shut down two teams for one hour. And they even get to pick what time they shut down.
On top of the news of the advantage, they also have a new challenge. For their challenge on day two, they must choose a libation from their heritage to create a new dish based on their booze of choice. And whoever sells the most of their “Booze of the World” challenge dish will earn $400 for their till.
So who did D’Pura Cepa shut down for an hour? They shut down Da Bald Guy and Lisa’s Creperie, the other two pro teams. And when they reopen, they have just one hour left of selling time.
After a call from Tyler, it is time to learn which team won the Booze of the World challenge and added $400 to their till.
Easy Vegan won the $400, which gave them first place overall for the leg. And Khana ended up in second place with the most sales for the day without the bonus. D’Pura Cepa came in third. And that means Da Bald Guy and Lisa’s Creperie are at the bottom for the first time. So who is going home? Sadly, the team going home is Lisa’s Creperie. This means that there are only two pro teams and two rookie teams left in The Great Food Truck Race!
