The finale of the second season of The Great American Recipe is right around the corner and it’s the cooks last chance to impress the judges. So what does that mean for our home cooks?

In this preview from The Great American Recipe episode 7, it means putting it all on the line with dishes that are inspired by a close friend or someone you would consider to be your chosen family. And since this is the second to last challenge before the finale, it is even more important that the cooks showcase who they are on the plate.

The Great American Recipe is taking on a challenge inspired by a close friend in semifinal episode

As the clip starts, we actually get to hear what the judges are looking for in this challenge. And as Tiffany Derry points out, every one of these cooks needs to find a way to “stand out amongst everyone” with these dishes. Leah Cohen also chimes in with the fact that it is “so close,” for these cooks and that means it really is important for all of the cooks to bring their very best dishes to the table.

After hearing what the judges have to say, the clip then moves to Leanna and her station where she is making lamb kebabs. And she knows exactly how important these final dishes are, as she points out that she wants to get all the way to the end of The Great American Recipe.

The clip basically walks us entirely through who inspired Leanna, where she learned how to make it, and of course even shows her chatting with Graham Elliot about the recipe. And from there it swings over to Salmah and the kebabs that she is making.
