Of all the various versions of the Whopper that Burger King has introduced over the years, few grabbed people’s imagination quite like the Angry Whopper.
The Angry Whopper was a burger with attitude. It was a burger that would scorch your mouth and didn’t really care one bit. The name alone dared the Burger King faithful to come in and try one. Because if you didn’t you were forever branded a wuss.
For those that might have forgotten, the Angry Whopper included a quarter-pound flame grilled patty that has been topped with fried onions, pepper jack cheese, pickled jalapenos, bacon, lettuce, tomato, mayo and what Burger King called Angry Sauce. All of that was placed on a toasted sesame seed bun and then sent out to mock you.
And now it has been revealed that the Angry Whopper is back. Kind of.
The Angry Whopper will be on sale at Burger King in Ohio starting September 28.
It turns out that the return of the Angry Whopper will only be at select locations in the Columbus, Ohio area and only for a limited time. It is part of the test run that Burger King is apparently running for the burger.
Now, why would The Home of the Whopper be testing a burger that has already been available multiple times and they had great success with? Who knows? We’re still confused as to why the Franken Whopper never made it’s way to the United States after being available in Canada.
That being said, if we were betting foodies we would say that the test is part of bigger promotion that Burger King will likely roll out for Halloween. Think an Angry Whopper with some kind of angry ghost theme to go along with it.
We’ll have to wait and see if that actually happens. But if you live in the Columbus, Ohio area, you can try going toe to toe with the Angry Whopper starting September 28.
