Halloween Baking Championship season 9 episode 4: Bloody Mary and body parts
Halloween Baking Championship season 9 was back with episode 4, and this episode was not without surprises. But first, there were bloody women and body parts! What more could you want out of a spooky baking competition?
First up was the Thriller challenge! For this challenge, the bakers had to make Bloody Mary bar desserts. The bakers had to make a cookie showing Bloody Mary before she turned into a horror show and then the bars had to show the Bloody Mary we know and hope doesn’t show up in the mirror.
This was not an easy challenge for most of the bakers. Cookies cracked and fell over. It was a bit of a mess, but Hollie was the one that came out on top. As usual, her dessert looks absolutely fantastic.
On to the Killer challenge! The bakers had to team up into pairs and make a cake that combined two body parts together. The teams included Hollie and Mandi, James and Ryan, Christa and Stacey, and Dan and Shefali.
Body horror on Halloween Baking Championship this week
The body parts included arms, legs, ears, noses, and tongues, and yes, it was as gross as you might expect. But there was a twist too. About halfway through the challenge, John told them that they also had to include two mismatched flavors in their cake.
Hollie and Mandi got tomato and coconut, James and Ryan received grape jam and thyme, Christa and Stacey chose peanut butter and basil, and Dan and Shefali got lime and rosemary. To say the bakers weren’t happy would be an understatement. Oh, and two people were going home this week. Yikes!
That being said, all the cakes looked outstanding. They were as gross as you would expect them to be, but the flavors were all pretty good according to the judges.
So who did they pick to win? That was Hollie and Mandi! Their cake really did combine horror and flavor together quite well.
And who was sent home? That was Dan and Shefali. Their cake didn’t look as realistic as the others and the surprise flavors weren’t as prominent as the judges wanted them to be. But this week, it really was anyone’s best guess who the judges were going to send home.
Next week, the remaining bakers will have to make buried-alive trifles and shrunken-head pies. I love this show so much.
