When you talk about food television and all the great shows it has given us, such as Chopped, Hell’s Kitchen and Great British Baking Show, they all owe a huge debt to one chef. Because without the one and only Julia Child, none of them would likely exist.

Julia Child changed not only the way Americans cook but how they looked at the culinary arts. The French Chef, her groundbreaking PBS series, showed everyone that anybody can cook as long as you have the right ingredients, some patience and a good teacher.

And Julia Child was the best there ever was.

It is a fact that Food Network, a cable channel that owes its existence to the food icon, has been embracing the last few years. First was The Julia Child Challenge last year and now the network has announced a new tournament that unites Child’s cooking and the chaos that is Chopped.

Chopped: Julia Child’s Table premieres on November 14.

Chopped: Julia Child’s Kitchen is a new five-part tournament that will premiere on Food Network this November. Hosted by Ted Allen, the tournament will see four chefs attempt to create a new take on a Julia Child classic using mystery basket ingredients inspired by her most famous French dishes.

After four weeks, the winners of each round will face off in the finale which will see the winner walk away with a $25,000 Julia Child-themed trip to France. The judges include familiar names if you’ve watched Chopped before, including Scott Conant, Amanda Freitag, Alex Guarnaschelli, Nilou Motamed and Michael Voltaggio.

Joining the judges for one episode will be Isabella Rossellini, from the series Julia which streams on Max. She will be joined by co-stars Brittany Bradford, David Hyde Pierce and Fran Kranz who will be presenting basket ingredients.

According to Betsy Ayala, Head of Content, Food, Warner Bros. Discovery, the series is the perfect way to combine two loves of foodie nation into one.

"“Julia Child is a true icon and culinary hero who influenced, and continues to influence, generations of cooks. This tournament pays homage to a legend while delivering an exciting twist on a fan-favorite series. The action is elevated by the unique challenges and ingredients deployed in her honor.”"

Chopped: Julia Child’s Kitchen premieres on Tuesday, November 14 on Food Network.
