Halloween Baking Championship season 9 just came to an end, and it was definitely one of the spookiest episodes of the season. And the results could not have been closer. But a winner was announced. Before we get to who took the top spot, let’s start with the final Thriller Challenge!

For this challenge, the bakers had to make black flourless flower desserts. And they had to include one black ingredient. The options included seaweed, black sesame seeds, and black pepper. James chose black seaweed (to the surprise of no one), Ryan picked black sesame seeds, and Hollie chose black pepper.

But what did they make? Hollie made a coffin with flowers and was made of flourless black pepper cookies, a no-bake chocolate cheesecake, and black buttercream. Ryan made a black sesame seed macaron bone with chocolate cream and nut butter filling and modeling chocolate flowers. James made black macarons with black seaweed ganache and buttercream flowers.

The judges loved Ryan and Hollie’s desserts but said James’ dessert tasted like a fish tank. Yikes. Who came out on top? It was Hollie! Her advantage for the next challenge was that she got to pick what she made and also what Ryan and James made. But what is the Killer Challenge?

For this challenge, the bakers had to make a cakescape showing a new event at the carnival. They had to pick from a funhouse, a two-headed dragon, and a hall of lost souls. Hollie chose the funhouse and picked the dragon for James and the hall of lost souls for Ryan.

These were truly spectacular! The only real issue during the challenge was that Ryan had issues whipping up his egg whites, so he ran out of time to really decorate his cakescape. Hollie made a truly scary funhouse and James made a cool two-headed dragon with flames and a bubbling dragon stomach.

So…who won? It was Hollie! I was so hoping she would win, and I could not be happier that she did. She created so many amazing creations over the entire season. She won the title of Halloween Baking Championship and $25,000.

Now that we made it through the spooky baking season, Holiday Baking Championship will be starting next week.
