For us guilty eaters, the word JUMBO can only inspire feelings of appreciation for the creators of whatever food item was manufactured or discovered in nature to be… Well, “Jumbo.” Jumbo burger? Bring it on. Jumbo shrimp? Heck yeah!! Jumbo peanut butter-filled chocolate cups? Oh, man!
Well, Reese’s has not disappointed this time out. Do they ever really? That is of course always up for debate, and well, we know how food debates can surely go, but with the release of the... You guessed it, Reese’s Jumbo Cup, the company has taken this classic to another level for sure. As has already been covered here at Guilty Eats, the news is definitely out -- but just how good is this new offering from a company that is used to hitting nothing but home runs?
Sometimes, and only sometimes, too much of a good thing can be just a tad too much, but for lovers of peanut butter, these ones should be considered that much better than the originals. I mean what’s not to love? The standard chocolate taste is indeed present. Albeit there’s a wee bit more of it to handle all the extra surface area of the peanut butter found inside, but that’s a good thing, and the peanut butter is not overpowering at all... It is just right.
Fans of this chocolate treat will not be disappointed. I can’t imagine anyone not appreciating the extra peanut butter flavor; I know I didn’t mind at all when I tried them for the first time, but more on that in just a second.
Fun fact to tell your friends at the office: Elvis Presley, the king of rock and roll himself, was a massive fan of Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. He was also, in general, a peanut butter fan big time. He loved peanut butter and banana sandwiches (sometimes with bacon), and he certainly would have loved these Jumbo Cups. In fact, Reese’s was aware of his love of their brand and in 2007 the company released Peanut Butter and Banana Cream cups in honor of The King himself. He was also adorned on the wrapper, in all his epic glory.
As a fan of Elvis, I can’t help but think about him every time I eat a Reese’s cup or even make myself a peanut butter and banana sandwich. It was actually him I thought about as I sank my teeth into the Jumbo Cup for the first time. And as I chewed I started to nod my head and thought: yeah, he would have loved this. I know I absolutely did enjoy them, and so will you.
There are some fans of the original Peanut Butter Cup that don’t particularly enjoy any deviation from what is considered the classic format of the chocolate and peanut butter treat, and to each his or her own. I can more than understand not wanting to deviate from a classic. But here, the original is respected big time; only enhanced. I urge you to give this one a try.
