Ryan Reynolds shows off his Deadpool Vasectomy for Father’s Day

Calm down, it’s a cocktail. I mean, a drink.

Ryan Reynolds has a lot going on right now. He’s starring once again as Deadpool in the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine. He has a financial interest in multiple companies, including the pretty delicious Aviation Gin. And most importantly, he’s a father. So it makes sense he would combine all of those things together to show off his Deadpool Vasectomy.

…Which might need some further explaining? In 2021, Reynolds released a video pre-Father’s Day revealing a drink called The Vasectomy, that includes cranberry juice, lemon juice, tonic, an orange twist, and of course Aviation Gin. It was pretty popular, and he brought it back for the past few years with some celebrity guests.

This year, though? Reynolds is all about Deadpool, 24/7, so he’s promoting a riff on the drink that’s perfect for the Merc with a Mouth made for drinking refreshing cocktails.

In the sub-two-minute video released today by the brand, it’s essentially the same cocktail that Reynolds has been making for years, with one major difference: instead of using Aviation Gin, he’s using the Deadpool Edition of Aviation Gin. Which is, uh, the same as Aviation Gin but with a fun bottle design, and only available for a limited time.

Also perhaps of note, the tonic Reynolds uses is Betty Buzz, which just happens to be the brand made in collaboration with his wife, Blake Lively. Huh! What a weird coincidence, I wonder if Reynolds is aware of that. Probably not, someone should tell him.

The video also shows footage from the upcoming movie, including things that perhaps could be categorized as a vasectomy if Deadpool didn’t have an overactive healing factor that allowed him to recover from most wounds. And it ends with Reynolds quipping that the cocktail “pairs perfectly with two dads over 40, pretending they’re not too arthritic to pull off a superhero movie.”

That quip’s got more zing than a vasectomy! The cocktail, I mean! You can check out the full recipe below, or in the video, and the Deadpool Edition gin is now available nationwide for $25 a bottle, while supplies last. Deadpool & Wolverine hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
