Crime Scene Kitchen is known for putting its competitors into a pressure cooker when it comes to solving what dish they are supposed to make and actually making the dish delicious for the judges. With that amount of pressure, talking and joking is not always going to be taken in a lighthearted way, and considering that's Joel McHale's job on the show, it's no wonder that he's gotten some sass to him coming in to talk with the baker.

In a recent US Weekly article, McHale mentioned that " I’ve had people go, ‘Joel, thank you so much. Do you mind leaving the kitchen now?'" or "Joel, I gotta do some measuring, so can you stop talking to me for a second?’ Considering the level of pressure and the amount of money they win if they make it to the top spot, I'm surprised some of them aren't saying anything worse.

He also stated that he doesn't take it to heart. He noted that he has “no problem” leaving contestants alone and said that "obviously, there’s lots of drama, but I try to keep it light and throw in as many jokes as I can."

And with Crime Scene Kitchen coming back on Thursday, Sept 26, 2024 for its third season, we will only have to wait a few days before we see him "keep it light" and try to make the bakers laugh. So far, McHale has done an amazing job in his hosting duties. From making jokes about Judge Curtis Stone to ribbing the contestants' sometimes inedible or unknown desserts, he is a natural at hosting this unique baking competition series.

Joel McHale and Crime Scene Kitchen are back this week

If you haven't watched, the premise is that teams of bakers must look into a kitchen that a baked good was made in. Using clues left there, they must decipher what was made in the kitchen. They must then bake that dessert to the best of their abilities. If they are right, they have the chance to win that round. If they are wrong, they may be sent home. It's an incredibly unique show that is insanely fun to watch.

It also helps that McHale, Chef Curtis Stone, and fellow judge Yolanda Gampp seem to be genuinely supportive and friendly with the teams of bakers. To tune in for yourself, check out the first episode of season 3 on Thursday, Sept 26 at 9 p.m. ET on FOX.
