Everyone has a favorite gas station and for some of us in the North East, it's Sheetz. While other gas stations have a fan following, there's nothing like being a Sheetz Freak.

Founded in 1952 by Bob Sheetz, the company has since grown to include locations outside of its original store located in Altoona, PA. Since its inception, the brand has been a family company and it continues to be even now.

For some, Sheetz is some place they go for gas or coffee while others enjoy it for the brand's MTO or Made-to-Order offerings. One thing about Sheetz is that the menu there is huge so no matter what you're craving, they'll probably have something you'll enjoy.

Due to the fact that it's also the Lenten Season and people are looking for some alternatives, what better time than now to share some of the Lenten options offered at Sheetz?

These 10 items from Sheetz are great for Lenten Season 2024.

Upon looking at the Sheetz app, there is one thing Sheetz doesn't have that might surprise you and that's fish. Yes, the major item most people eat during Lent isn't on the Sheetz menu. Regardless, there are still plenty of options other than that so let's get into 10 items you can order instead if you're looking for something other than fish.

First, we're talking about the non-meat appetizers at Sheetz and honestly, there are a lot. If you're looking for the best bang for your buck, I'd go with the Classic Sampler. Priced at $6.00, you get your choice of three fried apps including Wisconsin Cheese Bitez, Mac n' Cheese Bitez, Mozzarella Sticks and Jalapeno Poppers. The only meat option for that is Boneless Bitez so you can skip that one.

Moving onto some other apps, you could try the Pickle Fryz which is a product Sheetz fans demanded and the brand listened. Another surprisingly filling item is the Sheetz "Twisted Dipperz" aka Pretzel which comes in Plain, Salted, and a Cinnamon Sugar variety. All come with a sauce of your choice and lastly is the 3-Cheese Mac which features Sheetz's tasty mac & cheese along with Parmesan and Shredded Cheese.

For a breakfast option, there's the Protein Showdown which is a flatbread filled with Egg Whites, Cheddar Cheese, and Pepper Jack Cheese. In addition, Sheetz has French Toast Sticks, Mini Hashbrowns, and Cinnapocketz, too. Plus with everything being MTO, you can customize any sandwich to include what you can and can't eat.

A recent addition to the Sheetz menu is the new Pizza Flatz which are flatbreads made into the pizzas of your choosing. The only non-meat option is Cheese which features Mariana Sauce, Parmesan, Mozzarella, and Provolone cheeses. You can also order a Cheese Quesadilla which might be a more filling option.

Even though this list ended up being a bit more than 10 things, I wanted to share some sandwich options you can snag. First is of course Grilled Cheese which gives you a choice of cheese, toppings, and spreads to make your sandwich as full as you want it to be. There is also a 3-Cheese sub with features 3 cheeses of your choice and as many toppings as you like.

There's also a Veggie Sub which is a sub roll featuring all your favorite veggies made to order and a Garden of Eatin sub which is made with a honey wheat roll, pepper jack, cream cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cucumbers, and peppers. For the final sub, Sheetz has a Southwest Veggie one which includes jalapenos, pico, onions, tomato, black olives, lettuce, guac, and cheese. It's essentially a taco without the meat so what's not to like?

As you can see, Sheetz does a wide variety of meat options but there are some great non-meat options for those observing Lent. While I do feature a lot of items, there are certainly a lot more that are somewhat basic but can be jazzed up with toppings such as nachos, fries, and mac & cheese.

That is the great thing about Sheetz as you have a plethora of different items you can customize to what you like and what you can eat at the moment. All in all, that is what I love most about Sheetz because it's tasty, filling, and a great alternative for those observing Lent.
