Thank the Taco Bell gods the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada is back
Taco Bell continues to cycle in items, here and there. It's part of the fast food chain's charm and sometimes, it works out perfectly. For example, the highly anticipated return of the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada to the menu, which shakes up a lineup that has otherwise gotten a little stale.
On Guilty Eats, we previously reviewed it and one of my major qualms was that it was slightly overpriced for what you're getting. While that sentiment still rings true, there is something utterly delightful about this item. Whether it's the fact that it's handheld or the flaky crispiness of the outside shell, it's truly magical.
Given all the hype and excitement about the return of the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada, it feels like a new chapter in the story of Taco Bell.
The Cheesy Chicken Crispanada is a good change for Taco Bell
As Taco Bell customers, we want variety. We can only get a taco and its fixings rehashed in so many ways. While some items can be doctored up as something else, sometimes you want something new -- and that's what the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada gives us.
While the recent addition of the Cantina Chicken Menu was a step in the right direction, it wasn't the beloved Taco Bell shredded chicken. We're still not quite there yet, but the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada is a tantalizing tease that gives us that shredded chicken taste we've all been missing.
To take things a step further, when Taco Bell brings back a limited-time-only item like this, it also feels like another test run to see if it should be permanently added to the menu. Particularly with the short hiatus here, it's entirely possible that this is a second round of testing to add the CCC right next to the Cantina Chicken Menu as a permanent part of the rotation. With this round, fans can try it again -- or for the first time.
Whether Taco Bell ultimately decides to take it away or bring it back permanently is up to the fast food giant. Either way, the Cheesy Chicken Crispanada is back. Hopefully, this will be the catalyst for more variety from Taco Bell and more quality options for those wanting something other than seasoned beef.
