Value meals are all the rage, and I’m not complaining. Whether it’s Wendy’s expanding Biggie Bag, the McDonald’s $5 Meal Deal, or the Taco Bell $7 Luxe Box, it all just means more choice for consumers, and a better way of saving money on the increasingly expensive prospect of purchasing fast food. And now, another national chain is getting in on the action with Taco John’s $5 Meal Steal.

“We are excited to pass along summers savings to our loyal customers with our new $5 Meal Steal,” said Barry Westrum, Chief Marketing Officer at Taco John’s via a press release provided to Guilty Eats. “Our most popular items are paired up for a Mexican-inspired feast at a great price point, offering exceptional value that doesn’t compromise on taste or quality.”

To be clear, you are neither stealing $5, nor the meal, they’re just giving it a fun name. That’s all! It’s a meal deal that is a steal to buy. But not actual stealing. Actual stealing is bad. Don’t do that.

That said? This meal deal is kind of a steal and includes a Crispy Taco, a Bean Burrito, Jr. Potato Olés, and a small beverage. You can probably figure out what these items are but in case not… The first is a beef taco, with mild sauce, lettuce, and cheese. The burrito has refried beans, onions, cheddar cheese, and again that mild sauce. The Potato Olés are Taco John’s signature item, little crunchy potato bites sprinkled with seasoning. And a small beverage, you might be interested to learn, is a small beverage.

The one catch here is that the $5 Meal Steal is only available in the Taco John’s app, and not in stores. So if you want to save some cash then order ahead. And if you do, you can also order from Taco John’s ValuEST Menu (they do have fun here) with choices ranging from $2 to $4. In addition, if you join the Bigger Bolder Rewards program, you can get free Potato Olés, dessert, and more choices.

You might say this is… Whatever the opposite of highway robbery is. Driveway charity? I don’t know.
