Taco Bell has had its fair share of limited-time-only items and one of the most popular is easily Nacho Fries.

Since its release in 2018, Taco Bell has continued to bring them back and then take them away. These returns are seemingly random and basically, fall into the category of Taco Bell having nothing else to release at the time. At least, that's how it feels for the casual Taco Bell eater.

With Taco Bell doing this again and again for years, most of us were wondering when enough would be enough. Will Taco Bell eventually do what's right and decide to make Nacho Fries a permanent menu item or will they continue to repeat this cycle?

Given the fact that there were rumors of Nacho Fries becoming a permanent item at one time, this becomes even more puzzling.

The case for and against Nacho Fries as a permanent Taco Bell item

Starting things off, let's go with the case against making Nacho Fries a permanent menu item. As a fried item, these are sure to bring an annoyance to Taco Bell workers. From having to clean fryers, change oil, and make large batches at a time, working with fryers is always annoying. Since I used to cook fried chicken, I can confidently say that this is something no food service workers like doing.

Coupled with that, every iteration of Nacho Fries brings in something bigger and better. Once again, this makes more work for TB workers. Given how many customizations customers are offered, things can easily get out of hand. The final reason why I don't believe Taco Bell will make these a permanent menu item is that fans know it's going to come back and look forward to it so the anticipation will be lost if they're part of the chain's regular menu.

Moving onto the case for making Nacho Fries a permanent item, these are one of Taco Bell's great options for picky eaters. For those who aren't big on tacos, they can still get fries. This is one of the few things that my nephew eats at Taco Bell so I can attest to this. Additionally, these make a great side versus getting chips and cheese plus it feels a lot more filling versus just getting chips and cheese.

Lastly, Taco Bell already serves potatoes as in its cheesy fiesta potatoes so adding fries into the fold would be just as easy. Given that Taco Bell continues to bring them back again and again, it's clear fans enjoy them so making them a permanent menu item would hopefully draw more people in. Then again, it might have the opposite effect so honestly, it's hard to tell when or if Taco Bell will ever decide to make Nacho Fries a permanent menu item.

Regardless of how you feel about Nacho Fries, there is no denying Taco Bell has a gold mine in its hands. No matter what the company decides to do moving forward, Nacho Fries are bound to be a part of whatever Taco Bell has planned.
