Taco Bell is now testing Chicken Al Pastor Street Chalupas

We can only hope Taco Bell brings these out of the testing phase.

If there's one thing Taco Bell is great at, it's testing loads of new items and if you're in Minneapolis, you're in luck.

The fast-food chain shared that they're testing new Chicken Al Pastor Street Chalupas. If you remember, Taco Bell dropped the Cheesy Street Chalupas during the summer of 2024. At the time, you could only get Cantina Chicken or grilled, marinated steak.

While we considered the Street Chalupas a little pricey, Taco Bell is trying to ensure that fans will pay the price with these upgrades. Of course, we have to wait and see if this makes it out of the testing phase.

In a press release shared with Guilty Eats, we have an idea of what to expect from this possible release: "Taco Bell debuts its latest innovation, the Chicken Al Pastor Street Chalupas, introducing a new flavor variant of Cantina Slow-Roasted Chicken for the first time, marinated in a sweet yet savory pineapple and chiles blend, all wrapped in two cheesy, street-sized Quesalupa-inspired shells and topped with fresh onions and cilantro." Given how much TB has been hyping up the Cantina Slow-Roasted Chicken, this shouldn't come as a surprise.

Taco Bell is going all in with the swicy trend with new test item.

For the most part, Taco Bell doesn't follow the trends and would rather come up with something unorthodox for fans to try. This time though, TB is following the recent #swicy trend, which is all about sweet and spicy. Given that the press release made sure to share that it was sweet yet savory, this feels very intentional.

It also feels like a breath of fresh air as I recently discussed how Taco Bell hasn't taken many risks as of late. The good news is that Taco Bell seems to have heard this feedback and is trying to introduce more well-rounded items. In the press release, the brand even teased what's to come: "As Taco Bell remains developing bold new offerings, fans can look forward to even more al pastor-inspired news including quesadillas, burritos, and bowls testing later in 2025." That has me excited about what TB has planned.

If you're in Minneapolis, then you could be one of the lucky few to try it out. Priced at $4.99 for a two-pack, you can begin trying them on October 31st. Of course, make sure that your location has them before going out. Hopefully, we'll all be able to try them in 2025 but given that Taco Bell is teasing it, it seems likely.
