As if there weren’t already enough reasons to visit Mohegan Sun, the casino resort in Uncasville, Connecticut is giving us two more. Aside from housing 300,000 square feet of gaming in two different casinos, Mohegan Sun is also a haven for foodies. This destination is home to more than 45 restaurants, bars and lounges and hosts an annual wine and food festival. Within the next couple of months, two new eateries will open.

On February 7, Beauty & Essex opened in the Casino of the Sky. With locations in NYC and Las Vegas, Mohegan Sun is the restaurant’s newest venue. Developed in partnership with Tao Group Hospitality and co-created by Chef Chris Santos, Beauty & Essex is unquestionably the new place to be.

Guests entering the restaurant will find themselves in a brightly lit, upscale pawn shop surrounded by a special curated collection of jewelry, musical instruments and other delights. All of the decorative items are available for purchase.

As you exit the pawn shop through another door, guests are transported into another world. The space is dark and moody, with a lounge and dining area that exudes luxury and elegance. Rooms are adorned with large crystal chandeliers while guests sit in velvet upholstered booths.

Guests can choose from an extensive menu of specialty cocktails including the Beauty Elixir (Bombay Gin, La Marca Sparkling Rosé, Cucumber and Strawberry), as well as wine, beer and a full bar.

The food menu has been curated by restaurant co-creator Chef Chris Santos. In a recent press release, he noted: “As a native to the region, New England holds a special place in my heart, and I’m eager to introduce Beauty & Essex to Mohegan Sun’s guests. I believe our menu and atmosphere will offer something truly exceptional for visitors.” With lots of shareable plates like Red Snapper Tacos, Grilled Cheese & Tomato Soup Dumplings, Crab Cake “Corn Dogs” and entrees that cover an array of cuisines like Mexican Sweet Corn Ravioli, Gochujang Salmon and Narragansett Beer Battered “Fish & Tots”, diners will surely find something to entice them.

This is a restaurant where guests can dress to impress and enjoy cocktails and a delicious meal.

The second eatery opening soon at Mohegan Sun is Sift Bake Shop and A.T.Y. Bar & Bonbons. While an exact date has not been released yet, the bake shop will open some time this spring. Pastry Chef Adam Young will add this fourth bakery to his growing portfolio of New England stores. In 2016, Young opened his first Sift Bake Shop with his wife Ebbie, in Mystic, Connecticut.

At Sift Bake Shop, guests can find a variety of freshly baked croissants, breads and pastries as well as savory items including sandwiches and salads. Of course, there are plenty of sweets like brownies, cookies and an extensive selection of cakes. There are also pre-packaged items that can be purchased, including granola, cookies and A.T.Y. chocolate confections.

In a recent press release, Young shared: “Alongside our talented teams at A.T.Y. Hospitality, I am so thrilled to be the newest contributor to the esteemed Mohegan Sun lineup of outstanding Food and Beverage offerings. The opportunity to collaborate with such professionals and have a new arena to showcase our craft is something I would consider to be the pinnacle of any pastry chef’s career.”

Opening in the Winter Entrance of Mohegan Sun, similar to the Mystic location, this Sift Bake shop will also have an A.T.Y. Bar & Bonbons presented by Grey Goose®. This boutique cocktail bar will serve signature cocktails, many of which will surely include some type of chocolate or sweet element.

Sift will be a great addition to the casino; a place to pick up some breakfast pastries or to enjoy a nightcap and a sweet treat.
