Little Debbie S’mores Cakes are the mess-free summer dessert you need

S’mores are delicious but they’re also extremely messy. Little Debbie, queen of snacks, solved that.

Seasonal summer flavors come in two categories: the tropical, e.g., passionfruit, pineapple, mango, etc. and s’mores. This summer alone, we’ve added s’mores to our coffee and our donuts. But as delicious as s’mores are — that melted chocolate, marshmallow and graham cracker combo cannot be beat — everyone knows that they are truly a disaster in their natural form. The cracker crumbles, the gooey chocolate drips, and Lord, does melted marshmallow ever come off your fingertips?

Yes, it is worth it, but sometimes you just don’t have the time. (Also, did we mention you need access to an open flame?) Luckily, Little Debbie, queen of snacks and ruler of gas station aisles everywhere, has a individually wrapped item just for you.

The S’mores Cake Rolls are a twist on the classic Little Debbie Swiss Roll. The S’mores Cake Roll is yellow cake rolled with s’mores flavored creme topped with a drizzle of chocolate. One can only assume the “s’mores flavor” involves marshmallow and graham cracker. (Swiss Rolls are, of course, chocolate cake rolled around a layer of creme and covered in fudge icing.)

Camp Little Debbie is a seasonal line of snacks put forth by the brand, all semi-related to the camp experience. While the other options — Animal Tracks (brownies covered in fudge icing) and Happy Camper Cakes (tree shaped cakes in chocolate or vanilla flavors) — are not as directly tied to camp food staples, the vibe is there. (You can always use Camp Little Debbie products to make classic camp desserts like dirt and worms. Walking tacos and sloppy Joes, well, should probably stay far away from dessert snacks.

Because Little Debbie wants to do everything in their power to prevent healthy eating, brand ambassador Juliana Evans also provided a recipe to create a “Toasted S’mores Cake Rolls Ice Box Cake.”

But at that point, you’re getting back into chocolate-all-over-your-face messy territory.
