CEO of Chipotle has confirmed that the new menu coming to the restaurant will not be here anytime soon, in fact, it will take years.

Chipotle recently unveiled their new menu items, but if you were hoping to sink your teeth into them you are going to be disappointed. The items may take several years to appear on the menu according to the CEO of Chipotle.

Unveiling new quesadillas, nachos, avocado tostadas, new spring salads and a Mexican chocolate milkshake, the new menu items where a welcoming site. So the announcement by the CEO of Chipotle, Brian Niccol, that they are most likely not going to be available for several years is highly disappointing.

Explaining that the new menu items are only in the testing stages right now, Niccol explained that they are only gathering feedback of the new items in the selected stores that they are being sold. Once the menu items are ready to go national, they will.

Yet when that will be is really anyone’s guess. Obviously the feedback needs to be good, if it is not the menu items will not be rolled out nationally, but even if it is, the process is still a lengthy one.

Niccol referenced to an 18 – 36 month process getting the menu items from the testing stages to being a permanent addition to the Chipotle menu. He did explain that the process can be quicker but there are no promises.

It’s a bit of a shock to the system. On the one hand it’s a complete surprise that it can take so long to have a new item being added to the menu. Yet on the other hand, they need to get it right, the last they would want, and of course us, is to have a rubbish item being added that no one would want to eat.

Fingers crossed it lands somewhere in the middle. Hopefully they get things right, add the best items to the menu, but it won’t take several years for it to arrive. Otherwise we may have forgotten about them by the time they arrive.
