If you missed the news, Taco Bell opted to bring a Demolition Man pop-up restaurant at SDCC. Now it’s easy to see why Taco Bell won the franchise war in the movie.

In the 1993 movie Demolition Man, Taco Bell won the franchise war. It was the only fast food joint left. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the release, the company opted to bring a Demolition Man pop-up restaurants to SDCC 2018 to show just why Taco Bell won the war. It would likely win again!

The restaurant featured everything you would expect from the movie. There was merchandise everywhere, including the costumes from the movie. Then there was a robot server and an exquisite four-course menu. When you walked in, you were even biochipped (your hand was stamped) and you could choose to look at the merchandise or sit in the bar.

Taco Bell showed just how to do marketing this weekend. When you choose to take on a challenge of bringing a movie world to life, you have to go all out. What could have seem eye-rollingly bad turned out to be one of the best parts of SDCC outside of the big movie and TV show panels. In fact, it beat some of the panels!

You could even ask for the live piano man to play a song or two. Customers just had to ask for the right song.

It must have been popular. The line to get in was crazy! If you were looking for a quick bite to eat, then you were going to skip Taco Bell’s Demolition Man pop-up. Those who had time to wait; well, it was certainly worth it.

Now it’s clear why Taco Bell won the franchise war.
