Impossible Burger is not so impossible to eat
By Callum Gunn
The Impossible Burger has been under the microscope over if it is safe to eat and the FDA has given it the all clear.
The Impossible Burger is a burger that bleeds. Not because it is made of some funky meat, but because it is a plant-based burger. Yes that’s right, this burger looks like a burger, tastes pretty much like a burger and even bleeds like a burger as well, but it is not a burger.
Made completely from plant-based ingredients, the Impossible Burger is the king of vegetarian burgers.

However, it has been under the microscope recently and its future has been uncertain. While the burger is already available to buy in some locations and is being sold in some fast food restaurants; questions over if it is safe to eat have been raised.
The ingredient in question is the one that makes the burger bleed called Soy Leghemoglobin. An essential ingredient that gives it the finishing touch of convincing you that you are eating an actual burger made of meat.

FDA officials have been looking into the ingredient since 2017 after deciding that there wasn’t sufficient evidence to label the burger as safe.
This was obviously a major setback for the company who had hit the ground running, gained massive support from far and wide, and then had to hit the brakes while the FDA figured out if the ingredient was safe or not.
Thankfully the FDA has come back and ruled in favor of the Impossible Burger. It has been deemed officially safe and the burger that might have been impossible to eat is now possible.
