McDonald’s breakfast menu could be in for a shake up?

Your McDonald’s breakfast menu could be about to go through a bit of a change amid warnings from the CEO of the fast food restaurant himself.

I think everyone has tried something from the McDonald’s breakfast menu at some point in their life. The McMuffin is the firm favorite above all others, with the hashbrown coming in at a close second.

However, your McDonald’s breakfast menu could be going through a major overhaul in the near future after warnings from the CEO himself over the performance of McDonald’s, and more importantly, breakfast.

McDonald’s released their Q2 earnings and during the report, the company’s breakfast performance was discussed. McDonald’s has seen, and admitted, that they have slipped when it comes to the breakfast part of the business.

It has not reached a point of decline that it’s an all hands on deck emergency type scenario; however, it is enough to sit up and pay attention and question if an overhaul needs to be carried out.

How has this happened?

Competition is your main culprit. There are other, smaller issues, that have caused a dip in the breakfast department but competition is the biggest concern. With competing fast food chains upping their own breakfast game, and seeing significant results, they have been taking a chunk out of McDonald’s.

So what will happen now?

You won’t be seeing any major overhaul of the McDonald’s breakfast menu anytime soon, but changes could very well be coming. The likelihood is they may start planning changes now, but wait to see the Q3 earnings before making any decision on when.

McDonald’s have already made changes in US outlets by offering a better range of coffee services with their espresso machine and offering all-day breakfast was another big game changer as well.

This is where we will probably see change whenever it may arrive; alterations and improvements over the existing menu. Newer options may be added as well, but you should probably expect smaller changes first rather than a sudden overhaul.
