McDonald’s has created the MacCoin which is good for one free meal

McDonald’s has a very special birthday coming up for one of their most popular menu items and in celebration has created the MacCoin.
Did you know the Big Mac is about to turn 50? The most popular item on the McDonald’s menu has been around for some time now and in celebration of the milestone birthday, the fast food chain has created the MacCoin.
The MacCoin is available from one of 14,000 participating McDonald’s stores across the country and you get one when you place an order for a Big Mac.

What can you use it for?
Well, you can either collect them and store them in a pretty case. You never know, they may become valuable and worth a few pennies one day. Or, you can redeem the coin for one free Big Mac.

Five unique designs have been created, each one representing a decade of the Big Mac.

- The 70s decade coin has been designed with flower power in mind.
- The 80s has been designed to allude to pop art.
- The 90s has bold and abstract shaped in its design.
- The early 00s focuses on the shift of technology.
- The 10s brings attention to how communication has developed.
The MacCoin will become available from Thursday during the lunch rush period and will be able to redeem the coin for a free Big Mac the very next day.
