Who would have thought that McDonald’s would be involved in a true-crime pic? On top of that, who would have thought Ben Affleck and Matt Damon would be attached to it?

How often have you played the McDonald’s Monopoly game in the hope that you’d win that top prize? If you’re anything like me, you play it out of curiosity knowing you’ll never win but taking up on the free burgers, fries, and McFlurrys along the way. Well, someone didn’t do that. They decided to cheat their way to the top prize and now the story is being turned into a true-crime movie.

Yes, really. McDonald’s will become part of a true-crime pic. And Ben Affleck and Matt Damon are attached to it. Let’s also not miss out the fact that Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are set to write the script – they did Deadpool if you’re curious.

Considering the name in the true-crime story, it’s not surprising that some big names have been bidding for the rights. Netflix, Universal, and even Warner Bros. have wanted to get the rights. You know who did? FOX!

It’s not clear just how much of the story will be told in the drama. After all, the McDonald’s tale is one that dates back to 2001. There are mobsters, strip-club owners, and drug traffickers involved. All that you would expect. Then there’s a family or Mormons involved. The whole of this story really does need to be told.
