Why can’t all of our McDonald’s restaurants look like this?
By Callum Gunn
Are you starting to get a bit bored of the same look McDonald’s has? Well if they are going to go for a revamp and new look this is how they should do it.
Part of being a franchise or large retailer is that all the stores look and feel similar. It is to give the welcoming feeling for customers that no matter where they go they know they can get the same in one location several hundred miles away as they can at home. McDonald’s have adopted this practice with their hundreds of thousands of restaurants.
However, the drawback of doing this is they can come off a bit dull and boring. They lose the ‘wow factor’ by having all of their restaurants looking like one another.

Now McDonald’s are planning to go through a bit of a revamp/upgrade of their restaurants very soon, and if they fancy going for that ‘wow factor,’ then they need to take some tips from this McDonald’s restaurant in Portugal.

Considered the fanciest McDonald’s restaurant in the world, the chain can be found in Porto, Portugal. Fitted with stained glass windows, chandeliers and other amazing décor, this is one restaurant you will not easily forget.
Business Insider shared images from the McDonald’s restaurant and each one of them has a ‘wow factor’ element to it.

Now McDonald’s isn’t going to start installing chandeliers and stained glass windows, and to be fair, neither did the Porto chain. They just found a beautiful building that was available for commercial purchases and turned it into a McDonald’s while leaving all the wonderful décor in place.
So why can’t they do that here? Instead of making boring looking restaurants. Why can’t they find a building that needs a bit of work done to it and use that instead? I realize there isn’t an abundance of empty, fancy looking buildings on every street corner but when there is one why don’t they go for it?
