Taco Bell brings the blue corn tortilla shell dubbed the Midnight Melt Taco
By Callum Gunn
If there’s one franchise that gets the gold star for innovation, it has to be Taco Bell. The latest is the blue corn tortilla shell and you can get it on the dollar menu.
It’s no wonder Taco Bell was the franchise that won in Demolition Man. This is a company consistently looking to bring something new, exciting, and innovative. The latest is a 100% blue corn tortilla shell taco, known as the Midnight Melt Taco.
You can get it on the dollar menu and it essentially is the Supreme Taco with a supreme twist. Not only is the 100% blue corn tortilla working as the base, but there’s also a melted layer of cheddar and then a melted layer of Monterey Jack cheese.

The Monterey Jack cheese will give a slight tangy taste to the delicious dish. And you’ll certainly have an extra crunch with the shell. This isn’t just a gimmick and hopefully, it’s going to be here to stay.

There is a little good news for those who struggle to keep the taco together while eating it. Because of the blue corn tortilla, the shell is slightly more closed together before being fried. It helps to make it smaller in width, which will certainly make it popular.
Now for the downside: this is just a test run. Right now, only 12 Southern California locations have it and they’re going tomorrow. You’ll need to grab your taster right now. Hopefully, they’ll have proven to be so popular that they’ll bring these out everywhere.
Honestly, they need to be brought out everywhere.
