The McDonald’s Apple Pie is one of the staples of the menu. You’ve likely bought it over and over again for the delicious, gooey middle. Now it’s time to get the Better Apple Pie. And it really is “better.”
Out of all the menu items at McDonald’s, there are some that we’d riot over leaving. The Big Mac, the Quarter Pounder, the Sausage or Bacon McMuffins, the nuggets, and, of course, the Apple Pie.
However, we would be happy with a slight change that makes the Apple Pie better than ever, and that’s just what McDonald’s has done. Over the last few months, the fast food joint has made a few changes to staple items, switching out the artificial preservatives and adding real butter instead of that fake, preservative-filled weird spread. Now it’s time for the Apple Pie.

Instead of the normal pie mixture wrapped in the cinnamon-sugar-covered pastry, we’re getting a lattice-style pastry. This is great news for those who find the Apple Pie is just way to hot to eat right away. Who doesn’t burn their mouth as soon as they bite into it? The lattice will help some of the heat escape!

Along with that, is a change to the sugary topping. Instead of a cinnamon sugar, it’s just going to be sugar. Don’t worry; there’s still cinnamon in there. Rather than being in the sugar, the cinnamon is being added to the middle, giving it an even better cinnamon taste. As for the middle, all apples will be 100% home grown, instead of the diced mixture from before.

This isn’t the first time the McDonald’s Apple Pie has been through a change. First introduced in 1968, along with the Big Mac, the Apple pie was more of a turnover-style dessert. It had a light golden color served in a carton because it was so big. In 1992, the version we have today was created.
There have been different flavors added over the years. We’ve seen Strawberry Pies, Pumpkin Pies, and even Pineapple Pies. Nothing has gone down as well as the McDonald’s Apple Pie.
