Gordon Ramsay’s programs are all over FOX. They’re partners. So why was Ramsay the one to cancel Kitchen Nightmares without talking to the network?

You’ll see plenty of Gordon Ramsay programs on FOX. Whether it’s MasterChef, Hell’s Kitchen, and even the new 24 Hours to Hell and Back, the two are partners and there’s no getting rid of him. In fact, he proved that himself when he canceled his own show, Kitchen Nightmares.

Most show hosts wouldn’t imagine just canceling their own program for fear of network backlash. However, Ramsay wasn’t thinking about the network when he decided to cancel Kitchen Nightmares. All he was thinking was that he was with a guy he couldn’t trust at all, according to an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

They were in the south of France at a ski resort. This guy Ramsay was working with was using the location to his advantage, taking holiday-goers for a ride. While Ramsay is hard on his staff and does have a temper, he is also extremely passionate about good service, good food, and well-treated customers.

So, rather than continue a relationship that just wasn’t going to work, Ramsay canceled the series. FOX was the one to ask him if he’s looking at reworking it into something else.

And so after a while, he did. He turned it into 24 Hours to Hell and Back, which has a different take. This is more like the series he did with the hotels, but this time it’s with restaurants. He has 24 hours to save the restaurants for completely closing down, whether because the owners are lazy or they’ve just fallen on hard times.
