Chick-fil-A’s sales are more per restaurant than the top three fast food joints combined

McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Subway may be the top three stores in terms of sales overall in 2017, but Chick-fil-A has made more per restaurant. And that is more than the three combined.
When the 2017 results came out for the fast food company sales, McDonald’s was number one. Many expected this and certainly weren’t surprised to hear Starbucks was second. Subway may have been slightly surprising but not overly. Where was Chick-fil-A? In eighth place.
Yet, it made more per restaurant than the top three combined. This is in spite of the company shutting on Sundays and to observe religious holidays. It’s good news for the chicken franchise.

Wait, how does it make more than the three combined? It’s linked to the number of locations each of the chains have. Chick-fil-A has just 2,225 restaurants, according to Business Insider. Meanwhile, McDonald’s has more than 14,000. Subway has almost 26,000 locations and Starbucks has almost 14,000. And these figures are in the United States alone.

Because of the lower number of locations, Chick-fil-A actually made $4,090,900 per unit, compared to McDonald’s $2.6 million per unit. Starbucks made a little more than $945,000 and Subway made just short of $417,000.
The totals add up to $4,032,450 for the three high-ranking companies based on profit per unit. That’s less than Chick-fil-A’s sales.
Could this mean fewer stores are better? Well, remember that the actual sales are much lower than the other three. Should more open, in theory, the profits should rise. But this is only in theory. Right now, whatever Chick-fil-A is doing looks right for its needs.
