Burger King introduces us to a green wonder called The Nightmare King

There is a new green sandwich on the Burger King menu. And not only is it called the Nightmare King, but it apparently lives up to the name.

Even fast food restaurants are getting in on the Halloween spirit this year. In fact, if you head over to Burger King from Oct. 22 to Nov. 1, you can get your hands on The Nightmare King, according to Delish.

This sandwich of horror is a mega meat meal featuring 1/4 pound of their beef (which is, of course, flame-grilled just like their classic Whopper), a fillet of crispy chicken, thick-cut bacon, American cheese, mayo, and onions. Basically, this is a meat, on meat, on meat sandwich, and Burger King did not stop there. Because the real horror stems from the sesame seed bun, which is a vibrant green.

But the Nightmare King doesn’t get its name because of the bun or the meats, but rather a scientific study done by Paramount Trials and Florida Sleep & Neuro Diagnostic Services, Inc. and Goldforest Inc, who partnered with the fast food chain. Yes, burger fans, Burger King really had a scientific study done on their new sandwich to determine if it lived up to its name.

And in the study done over 10 nights with 100 participants, it was determined that those who ate the sandwich experienced “incidence of nightmares increased by 3.5 times.”

There does not seem to be a cause for the nightmares, but we wouldn’t mind giving this sandwich a try once to see if it really does induce bad dreams. Perhaps the real nightmare stems from all that meat, combined with the green bun.

And the Nightmare King was not the only addition to Burger King’s Halloween menu, as they are also offering the Frozen Fanta Scary Black Cherry drink. Apparently, this special concoction is even leading to some interesting bathroom experiences, and the drink isn’t even green.

So if you are looking to really ramp up your scary eating habits this Halloween, you may want to give these two offerings a try. We think a little Scary Black Cherry and a Nightmare King are just what you need for a horror movie marathon.
