McDonald’s Happy Meal price increased unexpectedly

You might have noticed that your McDonald’s Happy Meal no longer costs the low value it used to. As the price was increased both quietly, and unexpectantly.
A McDonald’s Happy Meal is no longer the value that you have grown accustomed to. Quietly removed from the value menu, the price of the kid’s meal has been increased by the fast food giants rather quietly.
Brand Eating was the first to take note that the McDonald’s Happy Meal was no longer included in the $1 $2 $3 value menu. Quietly taking off the menu, the value menu now only includes your regular menu items and no longer the $3 Happy Meal kids option.

It then became apparent that not only had the McDonald’s Happy Meal been removed from the $1 $2 $3 value menu, but the price had been increased as well. It was found that the Hamburger Happy Meal option was now priced at $3.99 and the 4-piece Chicken McNugget Happy Meal was priced at $4.59, both in LA.
To make matters even more annoying/confusing. Prices vary from location to location, and some McDonald’s branches still offer the Happy Meal as part of the $1 $2 $3 value menu. So you could visit one location and find our hamburger at $3.99, and in another at $3.

Food and Wine received confirmation that the Happy Meals were no longer part of the $1 $2 $3 value menu nationwide, but branches were free to use their own discretion and include the Happy Meal as part of the value menu if they so wish.
Changes are of course expected with any business, and fast food restaurants are certainly no exception. What makes this standout, however, is that there is no consistency. The fact you can go from one restaurant to another and have the price change is a pain for customers. You may think that the cost of a Happy Meal will only set you back X, and then to suddenly find it cost Y is not great.
