McDonald’s is testing out a game changing made-to-order chicken sandwich
By Callum Gunn
A new made-to-order chicken sandwich is being tested out in McDonald’s right now and if successful, it will be a game changer for the fast food chain.
When we visit a fast food chain, all we want is piping hot, tender, tasty food prepared for us as fast as possible. Sadly, it rarely ever plays out like that. However, McDonald’s are currently testing out a new made-to-order chicken sandwich which hopefully fixes all of that, becoming an instant game changer for the fast food giants.
Currently being tested in more than 160 participating restaurants in Western Washington is the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich and Ultimate Chicken Tenders. Both are made-to-order menu options, meaning as soon as you order the Ultimate Chicken Sandwich or Ultimate Chicken Tenders they start cooking your food.

This way it arrives hot, tender, and fresh, rather than, what is too often the case, a slightly warm sandwich comprised of meat that has clearly been cooked early in the day and then stored in a warm cabinet somewhere.

The chicken is lightly breaded and seasoned and it’s made with all-white chicken meat. The Ultimate Chicken Sandwich comprises of Sweet Dijon Sauce, pickles and a chicken breast fillet all on an Artisan roll. The tenders come in 4, 6, and a 10 piece serving according to the official McDonald’s press release.
The limited Sweet N’ Spicy Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Tenders have also been thrown into the Ultimate Chicken test lineup as well.
Fingers crossed this test by McDonald’s will end up being a success. The hardest part of it will be delivering the food quickly enough for the customer. While we all certainly want fresh, tender, and hot food each and every time, we are however not willing to wait an age for it. If McDonald’s get the balance right, this will be a game changer. If not, then back to stored, pre-ordered food.
